Hsulynn: A Bridal Updo

Two weekends ago, I had the honor of helping my cousin with her hairdo on her wedding day. Hsulynn is a talented illustrator and you would see traces of her creativity in the details of her many wedding decorations. That includes designing her wedding dress and a handmade hairpiece that she made out of a piece of embroidered lace ( pic below ). During the hair trials, she drew me a picture along with several photos for reference and we experimented with what suited her dress and the occasion best till we were both happy. I had a great time working alongside Joni who is an amazing makeup artist and these photos were very well captured by two talented photographers. Check out their links below if you would like to find out more about their works :) Makeup: Joni Lynn Photographers: Adrian Yap + Nigel Lim

Her hair was dip dye in brown so it was interesting to have several brown curls showing through her updo. *photo by Joni - Behind The Scene: we were trying to find a way to avoid getting any further creases on her dress while we prep her hair. So, Joni had a brilliant idea to have the dress go over the rattan chair :) And it worked. The charming groom swept her off her feet that night :) Watch them sing their vows that day HERE Once again, Congratulations Sam + Hsu!!

Andrew + Olivia: Bridesmaids' Makeup

Andrew + Olivia had their wedding last Saturday and I had the greatest opportunity to be working with the amazing Tracy Wong to help Olivia's bridal party with their makeup and hairdo. In the morning, we met all the bridesmaids, some just for the first time and just as we were about to begin, the power tripped! But thankfully, it came back on again and even so, everything was ready way before the service started.

Tracy and I with the lovely bride + her bridal party. Her bridesmaids had a customized convertible dress made out of lovely jersey material and we did some neutral, gold and greenish makeup for the girls :) Thought I'll share with you some photos from this lovely wedding as well. With the theme, 'Sunshine', the santuary was filled with the colors of yellows, aqua blues and LOTS of sunflowers that morning. It was a very beautiful wedding, starting with lovely handmade deco, a photobooth, a very personalized message for the couple by Elder Adeline and lots of lil quirks and jokes thru the ceremony!

At the end of the ceremony, the couple were in for a treat. There was a surprise and special performance by the girls from ACTS Cyberjaya, the church plant that Olivia has been sowing into :) It was a very beautiful wedding. My heartfelt congratulations goes to this couple, that their journey as a couple continue to overflow with blessings and I'll always be thinking of them each time I see sunflower or eat kuaci <3

Gabriel + Emily: Wedding Photoshoot

Here's something interesting to share with you! Recently, I had the opportunity to help Gabriel + Emily with their bridal party photoshoot by doing their bridesmaids' makeup and hair. It was a very lovely experience entirely and I enjoyed meeting the whole bridal party! I met most of the bridesmaids only the night before/ the day itself and I had fun getting to know them while working on their makeup and hairdos.

In the midst of the morning rush, I left my camera at home. Thus, I'm so grateful for these shots from Edwin. Sorry for not having closeup shots this time. They each had a gold/pinkish theme to compliment their dresses color, each with a different hair updo.

Looking forward to help again for the wedding in a few months time:)

Nic + Euodia's Wedding

I was overjoyed when I saw pictures of Nic & Euodia's engagement on Facebook a year ago. It was something I was anticipating for awhile and coming back to Malaysia, I got the opportunity to attend Nic & Euodia's wedding 3 weeks ago. When she found out that I was coming back, she asked if I could help out. Of course! We ran into really bad traffic that afternoon and I was an hour late! I still remember rushing and as I walked into the room, I saw her sitting on the chair, getting her hair done and she looked up and smiled. Being that the first time I saw her again in the last 2 years, it was just amazing to help her out on her wedding day and see her walk down the aisle. It was awhile since I did hairstyling for others, especially on weddings. But I was glad I got to work with Melissa, Vicky and Julia's hair that evening. They were just so sweet and totally trusted me with I was going to do. Unfortunately, I did not manage take a photo of their hair individually but manage to capture this while the photographer was taking some shots.
