I would like to introduce my cousin, Andrew and his beautiful wife, Tiffany who are very lovely people and also two VERY big Domo lovers. When it came upon the time for them to make a very special announcement, this was how they announced to the public *points below* And changed their facebook cover photo :) Thus when they told me about the news, I could not help smiling. I woke up, sat on my bed and grabbed my laptop and this was what came out in the next few hours. I popped them a message and surprised them in the mail to congratulate them :) They loved it!

I thought Tiff will probably be the one running with the diapers and Andrew would be busy chasing when its feeding time :) *we'll see when the time comes* At that time, Lil Moy was still a mystery and he or she... we did not know yet, thus brown seems a neutral color :) Special credits goes to Jared and Lindsay for the lovely Domo sketches that I found online along with the other elements. Thankfully for these, they worked together really well with what I had in mind and put them together with Photoshop :) Congratulations Andrew + Tiff!! Looking forward to October :)

Pang T-Shirt Designs

The meaning of 'family' took on a whole different level this year. For the many years since we were all little, my DaPek (oldest uncle) have been the cornerstone to the Pang family. This year he was turning 70 and during this occasion, we had our (almost) entire Pang family together again. Many flew back and travelled from Norway, Finland, US, China Singapore, KL to Malacca for this reunion. A lot of sacrifices were made to make this possible and a special one and I cannot express how much impact this event has left on all of us! A few months back, my cousin was discussing about creating a logo and print collaterals for the family members. That idea slowly grew and we decided we could design some T-Shirts. The process was interesting. We liase when she was in India, my uncle from the States, cousin on printing from China and designing in Malaysia. Through emails and skype, the days got nearer to the tight datelines. Alas, we finally send them off to print in China and got them just in time for the event! This was a family collaboration and we manage to surprise everyone with having a Tee each.

We have lots of creative juice in our family. Hsulynn is one of them! We discussed on various ideas and our favorite was to show 'Reunion' through a world map. She created these wonderful illustrations/ text which I transferred them into a shirt design. The next 2 photos are her work. I would like to introduce my cousin, who happen to be a very talented illustrator and i had fun working with her on this. Check out her work >> www.hsulynnpang.comThought of sharing with you the development process of the shirt design. Here, I combined both of her illustrations and started with something quite simple. These are the initial desigs: 1a- 1 color. Initially wanted to use a pastel color like turquoise but later we went with bolder colors.Initial design 1b- 2 colors. This then led to using white more in the design to bring out the design.Little details to change such as enlarging the PANG and highlighting every single location our cousins/relatives are coming from were the finishing touches. We went through a lot of variation to choose a font for our family name. This was when I learn something about our chinese character.

彭 is actually made up of 2 words, on the left side is Drum and on the right is 3 strokes of beat. So if you want to have a loud beat choose one that has a longer 3rd stroke. We came down to these 2 which I loved a portion of each. In the end, I combined both of them. Final fontThus applied the designs to the 2 colors in Round Collard shirts and Polo Tees: Blue and Red.Came the day for reunion, I was excited to see the printed T-Shirts. After all the process, you can imagine the excitement :)The boysThe girlsOur youngest addition to the family in his own Tee :)This is my family and this was our family project <3

The Ming Thing (TMT) Stickers

This is another amazing project that I got to work alongside The Ming Thing to design these stickersDespite working from 2 different time zones, I had a great time cracking on ideas from a sketch I received from them and to turn them into digital. These were printed and made their way to Malaysia's first OMG Live! event in September. It made me smile to see people sticking them on their arms and faces, which I later heard these had really strong adhesive (ouch)! What I really loved when I heard about this event was the collaboration effort and the opportunity for different creativity to come together on that day. Thus, thought of sharing the development process behind it.

Working with the tagline ' Leave a Mark' and TMT's logoThe challenge was to bridge the connection of the image to the logo. Using details that was used in the logo to bring similarities - diagonal endsadded a layer of texture

The Ming Thing (TMT) Logo

A few months ago, I had the privilege to create a logo for TheMingThing. It was truly an honor to be entrusted with the branding from the other side of the world. Ming Han is a very talented person and loves collaborating with many individuals. His recent video on Dato' Lee Chong Wei caught the attention of the press and performed at Jayesslee LIVE in KL 2012 with Charis Ow. You can check what they are up to on their Facebook page or Youtube channel!

Ming Han requested for something simple and typographically interesting using the acronym of TheMingThing. The finished logo is the uppercase letters ' T ' ' M ' ' T ', which also turns into a giant M.

Buffet King: Tea Posters

Working part-time as a waitress for over a year now in Buffet King has gained trust within the management and that has opened more opportunity to use my designing skills in the restaurant. Over several occasions I have been given some design jobs on the side. This is a little sneak peak of one of the recent project. I was asked to designed a series of informative but interesting posters and labels about tea to be displayed in the restaurant. I was given a few googled images and a word doc file of information about tea. Task was to productively use what was given and design it in the office in the few hours. I took this challenge to train myself to think creatively in a different environment. Thankfully, the management were pleased with them and these were later printed and displayed.
