Hello!
My name is Su Yen – the makeup artist and hairstylist behind SuyenPang Artistry.
Makeup started as a hobby which turned into a business years later. I picked up random skills when I was in high school (sewing, scrapbooking, baking, music and makeup & hair styling) which led me to enrol part-time in a makeup academy. When college came, I learned basic coding, animation, letter pressing and digital design. I pursued design as a degree, graduated with a B.A. Hons in Graphic Design and started my career in the advertising industry as a graphic designer. One of the first few clients who I designed a logo for later became my husband!
I worked as a graphic designer, and on weekends I assisted other makeup artists. As word started getting around, amplified with social media, I started getting busier on weekends. After 3 years of trying to balancing both careers, I fully transitioned out of my corporate job and made SuyenPang Artistry my full-time. Putting in all the hours into this has been an amazing journey and I have loved getting to know the growing community in the bridal industry and amazing individuals whom I call friends today.
Never did I imagine my random hobbies would allow the creative output i have today while giving me the flexibility of being a stay-at-home mom to our 2-year-old. Today I reside in Selangor, Malaysia with my husband and daughter. When not doing makeup, I work on DIY home projects and share them on my blog.
